Bacteria from textile effluents show promise in dye biodegradation
Textile industry effluents containing harmful dyes pose a threat to the environment. In this study, bacteria isolated from textile effluents were tested for their ability to break down these dyes. Two types of bacteria, Bacillus sp. and Staphylococcus aureus, were identified and tested for their dye decolorization potential. Bacillus sp. was most effective at breaking down red and blue dyes, while Staphylococcus aureus was best at degrading yellow dye. These findings suggest that these bacteria could be used to help clean up textile industry wastewater.
