France faces challenges in energy transition compared to Sweden, study finds.
France and Sweden have both made significant progress in reducing CO2 emissions and fossil fuel dependency. By comparing their energy transitions, it was found that Sweden's more diversified energy policy has helped it achieve lower emissions. Using energy system models, it was shown that France faces more challenges in transforming its energy system towards carbon neutrality compared to Sweden. France needs to increase power production, decrease gas consumption, replace heating systems, and electrify industry to meet its goals.
