Optimal tilapia population density boosts fish production in monoculture ponds.
The study looked at how different numbers of tilapia fish in ponds affect their growth and production. They tested 80, 160, and 320 fish per area without using extra food. The ponds were fertilized regularly. The fish in the pond with 80 fish had the highest survival rate and growth rate. The ponds with 80 and 320 fish produced more fish than the one with 160 fish. So, having 80 fish per area is the best for tilapia growth and production.
