The size of a thermal pad on LED modules affects how much heat they produce and how bright the light they emit is. By testing different sizes of thermal pads on two types of circuit boards, researchers found that larger thermal pads reduce heat and increase light output. This effect is more pronounced on traditional circuit boards than on metal core boards. Changing the type of circuit board can significantly improve the performance of LED modules.
