The study looked at how giving local governments more control over environmental issues in China affects innovation. They used a special model to analyze data from 2006 to 2015. The results showed that when local governments have more say in environmental matters, it can boost innovation. Different types of environmental control have different effects on innovation. Giving more control over governance helps innovation more than giving control over finances. The study suggests that using specific types of environmental decentralization can help increase innovation in China.
