Seasonal Fluctuations in Fly Populations Impact Ecotourism in Gabon.
The researchers studied the seasonal patterns of tsetse flies, tabanids, and stable flies in Momba Bay, Gabon, to help with ecotourism planning. They used traps to catch the insects and found that tsetse flies were the most common species in both rainy and dry seasons. Tsetse flies were more diverse in the dry season, while tabanids and stable flies were more diverse in the rainy season. The number of stomoxes caught was highest in the rainy season. Overall, the study showed that different species of flies have varying distributions depending on the season in Momba Bay.
