Sandy plain aquifer study reveals crucial water recharge patterns.
The researchers studied how water moves in a sandy area in Argentina used for farming. They found that the water table in the sandy aquifer goes up and down with rainfall, providing water to rivers and lagoons. Most of the water recharge happens in late spring, summer, and early autumn. Even in winter, the aquifer still gets some water from previous rain. Overall, the aquifer gets more water than it loses, which is good for the region's water supply.
