Multi-cell square tubes were improved by adding corrugations to enhance crashworthiness. The new design, called multi-cell circumferentially corrugated square tubes (CCSTs), outperformed traditional multi-cell square tubes in crash tests. Varying geometric parameters affected crashworthiness characteristics. This design method can enhance the safety of thin-walled tubes and other structures.
