Global Coordination of Climate Downscaling Unlocks Regional Climate Change Insights
Regional climate downscaling aims to better understand how global climate models can impact local climates. Different methods like regional climate models and statistical downscaling are used. Initially, these methods were not coordinated, making it hard to compare results. To address this, the Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) was created to coordinate efforts worldwide. CORDEX helps assess the effectiveness of downscaling methods and their impact on regional climate patterns.
