Optimal fertilizer use boosts rice yields and nutrient uptake in Tamil Nadu.
The researchers studied how rice plants in Tamil Nadu get nutrients from the soil and how efficiently they use them. They did experiments in different seasons and found that the best results came from using a mix of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers, along with zinc sulfate. By using this mix, they were able to increase the amount of rice produced and the nutrients absorbed by the plants. They also calculated the exact amounts of each fertilizer needed to reach specific yield targets.
