Straw mulching boosts winter wheat yield in Northwest China by 19%.
Straw belt-mulching in winter wheat fields in Northwest China helps regulate soil temperature and increase crop yield. Different mulching methods were tested, with straw mulching showing the best results. It lowered soil temperature during certain growth stages, which benefited the plants. Straw mulching also reduced temperature variations and increased grain yield by around 12-20%. This method is suitable for improving winter wheat production in rain-fed regions of Northwest China.
