Livestock emissions set to soar in Bangladesh, threatening climate goals
The study estimated greenhouse gas emissions from livestock in Bangladesh using data from 2005 to 2018. In 2018, the emissions were 66,586 Gg/year CO2 equivalent, and are projected to increase in the coming decades. Enteric methane, manure methane, direct nitrous oxide emission, and indirect nitrous oxide emission were the main contributors to emissions. The findings can help develop effective strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from livestock in Bangladesh.
