French women's work decisions influenced by children and husband's wages
The study looked at why women in France decide to work or stay at home. They used a special model to analyze data from married women over several years. The results showed that women's choices about working are influenced by their past decisions, differences between individuals, and changes in their husband's income. Having young children at home makes it less likely for women to work, but this effect varies depending on the children's ages. Women with higher education are more likely to work. Interestingly, when a husband earns more money, his wife is more likely to start working, but this effect decreases over time.
