The researchers evaluated the ecosystem services of Thousand-Island Lake in China by looking at its value and trends. They used a system of 16 indicators to assess the lake's functions, finding that its regulating function was the most valuable. The lake provided services like floodwater regulation, water purification, tourism, and energy saving. The total value of ecosystem services increased from 2007 to 2017. Thousand-Island Lake's ecosystem services were much higher than the GDP per area in the surrounding county.
