Sheep and Goat Farming in India: Livelihood Struggles of Rural Farmers
Sheep and goat farming is crucial for many rural families in India. A study in Karnataka found that most farmers are over 40 years old and have little education. They typically have small to medium-sized families and earn less than `1 lakh per year. On average, each household has around 71 sheep and 30 goats. The farmers mostly use basic shelters for their animals.
