Projected 56% Increase in Water Demand in Northeastern Oklahoma by 2060
The Boone and Roubidoux aquifers in northeastern Oklahoma are important sources of fresh groundwater. A study was conducted to understand the hydrogeology of the area and determine the maximum water yields of these aquifers. By creating maps and cross sections, researchers found that the altitudes of the aquifer bases varied, with the Roubidoux aquifer having the deepest base. The study aims to help manage water resources in the region as water demand is projected to increase significantly by 2060.
