Drylands of China experiencing drying in the east and wetting in the west.
The drylands of China are experiencing changes in precipitation and vegetation cover. The eastern semi-arid region is getting drier, leading to increased drought, while the western arid region is getting wetter. Various indices were used to analyze these trends, showing a pattern of wetting in the west and drying in the east. The semi-arid region is particularly vulnerable, with vegetation cover closely linked to drought indicators. This study highlights the need for further research to protect the ecosystem and water resources in the semi-arid region of China.
