Sesame oil consumption in Korea linked to improved health benefits.
Sesame seeds and sesame oil contain lignans, which are important compounds for health. A study in Korea found that the daily intake of lignans from sesame products is around 18.39 mg for males and 13.26 mg for females. Sesame oil contributes more to lignan intake than sesame seeds, with 77% coming from oil and 23% from seeds. This research used high-performance liquid chromatography to measure lignan levels in sesame seeds and oil, providing valuable information on how much of these beneficial compounds Koreans consume daily.
