Creators' rights not synonymous with authors' rights in international law.
Authors' rights protected under copyright law are not necessarily the same as creators' rights under human rights law. While some argue that authors' rights are human rights, there are significant distinctions between the two sets of rights. International human rights law does not fully support the norms established in copyright law, challenging the idea of universalism in copyright norms. Some aspects of copyright law align with human rights norms, but others conflict with the obligations states have under human rights instruments.
