Perfectionism Clusters Impact College Adaptation and Academic Procrastination in Students
The study looked at different types of perfectionism in college students and how they relate to academic procrastination and college adaptation. Three groups of perfectionism were identified: non-perfectionists, other-oriented perfectionists, and self/other-oriented perfectionists. Non-perfectionists preferred working under time pressure, while self/other-oriented perfectionists had high deadline abilities. Non-perfectionists had fewer difficulties adapting to college life compared to the other two groups. Self/other-oriented perfectionists struggled more emotionally, while other-oriented perfectionists had difficulties in academic, college environment, and social adaptation.
