Researchers developed 45 hybrid bitter gourd plants to improve earliness and fruit yield. The hybrid OBGCBR-2 × Jaunpuri Green showed the highest heterosis for earliness and fruit yield traits. OBGCBR-1 × IC-085611 had desired heterosis for flowering time. OBGCBR-2 × Jaunpuri Green and Meghna × Jaunpuri Green had positive heterosis for flower appearance. Katehi × IC-085612 showed negative heterosis for internodal length. OBGCV-2 × IC-085612 had desired heterosis for sex ratio and fruit length. Green Jhalari × Jaunpuri Green showed positive heterosis for fruit diameter. OBGCBR-2 × IC-085611 had positive heterosis for average fruit weight and number of fruits per plant.
