The study compared circle hooks and tuna hooks in Taiwanese tuna longline fishing. Circle hooks did not reduce catch efficiency and had higher survival rates for fish, including tunas. Catch sizes were similar, but yellowfin tuna caught with circle hooks may have higher value. Circle hooks could be a better choice for Taiwanese longline fisheries and support international sea turtle conservation efforts.
