Land use types impact deep soil water content in China's hilly areas.
The study looked at how different types of land use affect deep soil water content in a hilly area in China. They compared soil water levels in plantations, forests, and grasslands at different depths. The results showed that the type of vegetation had a big impact on soil moisture distribution. Pruning Ziziphus jujuba trees helped conserve soil water, while historical alfalfa planting led to high water consumption. Sandy soil and root zones also influenced soil water content. Choosing the right vegetation is crucial for protecting and using deep soil water effectively.
