Indian SMEs without CMMI certification show readiness for software improvement.
The article explores how small and medium enterprises in India can improve their software processes without formal certification. By surveying Indian software SMEs, the researchers found that following more than 70% of CMMI-DEV v1.3 practices can help SMEs be unofficially ready for software process improvement initiatives. The study shows that the time of establishment of SMEs and adherence to CMMI-based processes play a significant role in achieving process maturity levels. This information can help authorities select SMEs for funding to improve their software processes.
