Environmental taxes key to reducing CO2 emissions in EU countries
The article examines how environmental taxes affect carbon dioxide emissions in EU countries using a panel VAR model. Data from 1995 to 2014 for 24 EU countries was analyzed to understand the relationship between environmental taxes, GDP, CO2 emissions, and energy use. The study found that environmental taxes play a significant role in reducing CO2 emissions and suggest that implementing these taxes can help address the negative impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on the environment and society.
