African 'afro' currency by 2028: Banking, fiscal, political unions crucial
African countries are working towards creating a single currency called the 'afro' by 2028, following the example of the European Monetary Union. To ensure the success of this monetary integration, Africa needs to establish banking union, fiscal union, and political union. These measures were found to be crucial for the completeness and sustainability of a monetary union, based on lessons learned from the Eurozone crisis. The goal is to create a strong economic and monetary foundation for Africa by integrating financial systems, fiscal policies, and political structures across the continent.
