The study analyzed erosion along the Ponnani coast using satellite images and GIS to track changes over time. They found that many areas are experiencing severe erosion, with some spots losing more than 4 meters of coastline per year. The study also considered the impact of protective structures and natural processes on erosion. Overall, the Ponnani coast is actively eroding, with about 35 kilometers showing high erosion rates. This suggests the need for sustainable management and protective measures to address the accelerated erosion in the region.
