Administrative reform in the United States has been a hot topic for over a century. Recent administrations have tried different ways to improve it. In the last 25 years, a new approach called new public management has been popular, but now there's talk of a shift towards public value governance. With a potential second term for Donald Trump, it's likely that both new public management and values-based governance will be important in future public management research.
