Labyrinth spillways are special weirs that can handle more water flow than regular ones. Scientists used computer simulations to study the water flow downstream of a specific type of labyrinth weir. They compared their computer results with real-life data from a big water channel. The computer predictions matched the actual flow patterns pretty well, except very close to the weir itself.
