Boosting Potassium Levels in Maize Leads to Higher Yields!
Potassium is crucial for maize growth and yield in calcium-rich soil. A study tested different potassium levels on maize in pots. Results showed that plant height increased with 40 kg of potassium, while SPAD values and leaf area peaked at 80 kg. Root parameters improved with 120 kg. Cob length and grain weight increased with 120 kg, while cob girth and rows per cob peaked at 80 kg. Grain and stover yield were highest with 120 kg. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium uptake also increased with 120 kg. Overall, applying up to 120 kg of potassium is essential for maize growth and maintaining soil balance.
