Landfill Technology Converts Waste to Energy, Reducing Fossil Fuel Dependency
A new technology called waste-to-energy (WTE) can turn trash into a source of energy, reducing the need for fossil fuels. Researchers designed a landfill cell to produce energy from municipal solid waste. They found that the landfill gas contained high levels of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2), which can be used as fuel. By using this gas to run engines at a WTE plant, greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced. This technology offers a solution to both energy demand and waste accumulation issues, but it's important to raise awareness about the value of waste as an energy source.
