New enzyme discovery could revolutionize plant growth and development!
Cucumber seeds contain enzymes that break down plant growth hormones called gibberellins. One enzyme, CsGA3ox5, helps convert gibberellins into inactive forms. Another enzyme, CsGA1ox/ds, not only breaks down gibberellins but also changes them into different active forms. By modifying three specific amino acids in CsGA1ox/ds, it can also produce active gibberellins. This discovery could help in understanding how plants regulate their growth and development.
