Muslim parents in Malaysia prioritize other savings over children's education.
The study looked at why Muslim parents in Malaysia are hesitant to save for their children's college education, despite Islam encouraging saving for the future. Questionnaires were used to gather information from parents whose children were in public universities. The findings showed that while Islam promotes saving, wealthier parents prioritize other savings over education. Less wealthy parents often rely on scholarships or loans to cover education costs. To improve education savings, the public should start saving early, and the government should promote saving through campaigns and activities.
