Social and technical factors shape product design for better development outcomes
Design is complex and involves both social and technical factors. Negotiation plays a key role in determining major design decisions, while the design requirements are influenced by the non-static environment. By addressing these social and technical aspects, designers can improve conceptual product development. The researchers developed a guideline based on Collective System Design and Decision Drive Design to help designers meet their needs and create better products. This approach was applied to develop a product, demonstrating that meeting designer needs enhances the product development process.
