Interest in regional innovation policies has grown in the past two decades, especially in Europe. The dominant approach is smart specialisation, which aligns with the regional innovation system (RIS) approach. This book explores regional innovation policies, focusing on non-core regions, through theoretical and empirical research by European academics.
