Chengdu's Urban Growth Threatens Ecosystem Services, Urgent Action Needed.
The study looked at how the value of nature in Chengdu changed from 2009 to 2018. They used GIS technology to study the different types of land in the city. They found that the amount of farmland, water, and unused land decreased, while construction land increased. This means that more land is being used for buildings. The value of nature is higher in areas with farmland, forests, and grasslands, and lower in areas with buildings and unused land. Overall, Chengdu's changes in land use haven't hurt nature too much, but we need to be careful about building too much and protect natural areas for a healthy environment.
