Revolutionary wastewater treatment process transforms tofu industry pollution into clean water.
The researchers aimed to clean up wastewater from tofu production by using a mix of coagulation, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis. They found that adding alum as a coagulant helped reduce pollutants in the water. After going through the ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis processes, the water met national standards for most parameters, except for chemical oxygen demand, which was also lowered to acceptable levels.
