The researchers studied unemployment trends in Turkey using a model based on labor market search theory. They found that the unemployment rate trend in Turkey was 12 percent by the end of 2018, increasing since the global recession. The main factors driving this trend were rising separation and unemployment exit rates in the past decade. Although these trends have slowed since 2012, the labor force participation rate has been steadily increasing.
