Changing water levels can drastically reduce sedimentation in reservoirs
The sediment delivery rate of the Three Gorges Reservoir is influenced by factors like water level, inflow/outflow, sediment inflow, and particle size. When the reservoir's inflow is high, changes in water level have a big impact on sediment delivery rate. Keeping the water level low when there's a lot of water coming in and raising it when there's less water can help reduce sedimentation in the reservoir. This study analyzed data from 2004 to 2012 to understand how these factors affect sediment delivery, providing insights for managing the reservoir in the future.
