Countries are becoming more protective of foreign investments, especially in strategic sectors. This trend, known as FDI protectionism, is increasing scrutiny on international mergers and acquisitions. To maintain a fair approach to foreign investment, an independent observatory is suggested to monitor and call out countries implementing protectionist measures.
