Groundwater levels rising in Albuquerque, NM due to decreased withdrawals.
Groundwater levels in eastern Albuquerque have been rising since 2008 due to decreased withdrawals and the addition of surface water. Maps from 2008 and 2016 show that groundwater generally flows towards the center of the area, where pumping is high. The water-table elevation increased in most of the study area during this period, with the greatest rise in the northeastern part, historically affected by pumping-related drawdown.
