Double-bootstrap analysis reveals key drivers of water utility efficiency in SA
The study compared the efficiency of water utilities in South Africa using two different methods. The traditional method sometimes gives inaccurate results due to errors in the data, while the new method corrects for these errors. The results showed that the rankings and efficiency scores differed between the two methods for both urban and rural utilities. Factors like location, metered connections, and non-revenue water affected efficiency. Urban utilities were also influenced by the number of consuming units.
