Storing Dendrobium catenatum flowers in the dark extends their vibrant colors!
The color of Dendrobium catenatum flowers fades during storage. The study looked at how temperature and light affect the pigments in these flowers. Light makes the pigments break down faster, while cold temperatures help keep them stable. The best temperature for preserving the pigment composition is -20°C. After 5 months, flowers stored at -20°C had more pigments than those stored at 4°C or room temperature. To keep D. catenatum flowers fresh longer, store them away from light and in a cool place.
