Occupancy sensors in buildings help monitor how many people are there. By using this data, researchers made models to predict when rooms will be occupied. They found that if the predictions are wrong, the heating and cooling systems waste energy or make people uncomfortable. To fix this, they made a smart system that adjusts based on the type of prediction errors. Testing showed this new system reduced energy use by 29.5% and improved occupant comfort by 86.7%.
