Collective narcissism fuels ingroup defense, outgroup prejudice, and disloyalty.
The study looked at how people's beliefs about their group affect their behavior towards their own group and other groups. They found that when people believe their group is great but needs validation from others (collective narcissism), they are more likely to defend their group's image and have negative views of other groups. On the other hand, when people have a positive view of their group based on their own satisfaction (secure ingroup identification), they are more loyal to their group and have positive views of other groups. The study suggests that understanding these beliefs can help us better understand how people interact with different groups.
