Optimal sunlight exposure boosts growth of Tetradium daniellii seedlings.
The study aimed to find the best amount of shade for growing Tetradium daniellii seedlings in containers. Different levels of shading were tested, from full sunlight to 75% shade. The seedlings grew best in full sunlight, with taller heights and thicker stems. Root development was strongest in full sunlight, and dry matter production was highest there too. The quality index of the seedlings was also best in full sunlight. Chlorophyll content was highest with 75% shade, but photosynthesis and water use efficiency were best in full sunlight. Overall, the best shading level for growing these seedlings was found to be full sunlight. This information can help with mass production of these seedlings.
