New method achieves 99% removal of sulfur emissions from industrial processes.
A new method was used to make adsorbents from fly ash and lime for removing sulfur. The best conditions for removing sulfur were found to be 3 hours of hydration, 15% moisture, 70°C temperature, and 200 μL/L of sulfur dioxide. At these conditions, the removal efficiency was 99.12%. The key to improving sulfur removal is to balance the reaction rate and gas diffusion rate. This study helps improve the efficiency of sulfur removal in industrial processes.
