Diabetes Breakthrough: Natural Compound Apigenin Protects Liver, Restores Health
The study looked at how a natural compound called apigenin (APG) could help protect the liver from damage in diabetic rats. They made diabetic rats by injecting them with a substance called STZ. The rats were split into different groups, some were given different doses of APG while others were not. After 4 weeks, the researchers checked the rat's weight, liver health, and certain chemicals in their blood and liver. They found that rats treated with APG had improved liver health, lower liver damage, and better liver function compared to the control group. The rats that received APG also had lower levels of harmful compounds in their liver and blood. These results suggest that apigenin might be beneficial in protecting the liver from damage caused by diabetes.
