Breakthrough Discovery: Hydrogen Sulfide Halts Deadly Liver Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension
Hydrogen sulfide can help reduce liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension in rats. The researchers gave rats injections of hydrogen sulfide and found that it lowered levels of liver damage markers and inflammation. Rats treated with hydrogen sulfide also had lower portal pressure, a sign of reduced portal hypertension. This suggests that hydrogen sulfide can protect the liver and decrease the risk of complications from cirrhosis.
