Sleeve gastrectomy in obese mice shows promising results in weight loss
The researchers aimed to create a model of sleeve gastrectomy in obese mice that is efficient and successful. They used two groups of mice, one fed a high-fat diet to induce obesity. After surgery, the mice that had sleeve gastrectomy lost weight and had lower blood sugar and insulin levels compared to the sham surgery group. The sleeve gastrectomy also improved insulin sensitivity in the obese mice. This model could help in studying the treatment mechanisms of sleeve gastrectomy for obesity.
